DEARBORN — The body of Jawad Bazzi, a victim of a gas station shooting in Detroit November 16, was held for viewing at the Islamic Institute of Knowledge Sunday and Monday, November18 and 19, as the local community paid tribute to the well-known and well-liked husband and father of four. Imam Abdellatif Berri conducted a funeral service on Monday evening. A memorial service was then held at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center on Miller Rd. in Dearborn, where Bazzi was a founding member. Hundreds of community members crowded the hall.
Chairman of the center, Naim Bazzi opened an official session to pay tribute to Bazzi, who was also chairman of the planning committee. Dr. Hassan Bazzi, chairman of the cultural committee, and Adnan Baydoun, former chairman of the center, gave euologies. The body was then flown to Bint Jebail in the south of Lebanon for burial. Bazzi was born there in 1963 and had emigrated to the United States in the mid-seventies. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, November 25, and 3 p.m. at the Islamic Institute of Knowledge on Schaefer Rd. in Dearborn.
