About 2,000 Democrats gathered in Lansing for the pary’s state convention on Feb. 21.
Dozens of caucuses came together to conduct business and to hear from candidates and elected officials.
Elections were held, resulting in the reelection of Ismael Ahmed, a leader in the Arab American community and Director of the Michigan Department of Human Services, to Third Vice-Chair, and the reelection of Mark Brewer to his 7th 2-year term as Chair.
Other reelected leaders included Tina Abbott to First Vice-Chair, Lupe Ramos-Montigny to Second Vice-Chair and Rosa Holliday to Recording and Corresponding Secretary. Ramesh Verma, a leader of the Indo-American community from Oakland County, was elected Treasurer for the first time.
