DEARBORN – The field of 25 City Council candidates was cut to 14 after Tuesday primary elections.
The 14 survivors will move on to the November general election, where they’ll fight for seven seats.
Five Arab Americans, including three incumbents and two newcomers, made the cut.
Incumbents George Darany, Suzanne Sareini and Robert Abraham came in third, fourth and ninth, respectively, according to results from the City Clerk’s office.
Former Charter Commission member David Bazzy came in tenth and local business owner Ali Sayed squeezed into the 14th spot.
Other candidates who will move on to the November ballot are Thomas Tafelski, Nancy Hubbard, Mark C. Shooshanian, Sharon Dulmage, Brian C. O’Donnell, Doug Thomas, George Hart, Patrick Kiernan and Patrick D’Ambrosio.

Sayed, who runs a regional youth athletics company and has built bridges with the non-Arab population in the city’s west end, said Thursday night he was proud to come out successful on a ballot that included more Arab American names than ever in the city’s history.
