DEARBORN — Adding to what is becoming an impressive medical district in Dearborn, the new Genex Physical Therapy office just north of Michigan Avenue on Schaefer Road will open on Monday, September 14.

Chiropractor Kallil Kazan opened the office after patient demand skyrocketed at his Physio Matrix office in Detroit on Warren Road.
“We were over office capacity, getting 300 patient visits a week so we outgrew it. But we want to keep that up and running and transfer some of our patients to the Schaefer location,” he said in an interview.
The new 5,500-square foot Genex facility features high-tech equipment such as ultrasound machines, electric stimulation units, and even a new digital x-ray machine that presents results directly on the screen.
Kazan, who has practiced for over eight years, works to re-create the events of each car accident while performing orthopedic and range of motion tests to pinpoint the nature of injuries and how they should be addressed.
He also believes in a holistic approach for pain relief that combines new technology with good old fashioned common sense advice. He finds that many people, especially the older generation in the Arab community, are in dire need of more education about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and the potential side effects of prescription drugs.
“A lot of times patients come in and I find that they are overmedicated, but now more people are opting for other avenues besides dangerous drugs and surgery,” he said. “Hats off to medicine and surgery, but I have an order of priority in my office and I don’t believe that surgery or drugs should be first; natural intervention should be the first choice.”
Kazan graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College after completing undergrad work at the University of Detroit Mercy and his other passion is nutrition. He flies down to Clearwater, Florida for certified nutritional training for the Ulan system every month, and he has passed the secrets of preventive medicine through diet and other natural remedies down to his patients.
“You can come to the office all the time but you’re never really going to get healthy until you make changes in your lifestyle,” Kazan said. “It’s very easy to get someone out of pain given they don’t have something major like a torn muscle or broken bone, but the hardest thing is keeping people out of pain.”
It is for those reasons that Kazan seeks to establish long-term relationships with patients to encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle and to change their eating and working habits in order to keep them pain-free long-term.
Even though that might seem counterproductive for someone who would like as much business as possible, Kazan believes that treating patients the right way will lead to referrals down the line.
“I take a personal interest in the community, I was born and raised here and I have a lot of friends from teachers to doctors and lawyers. I like to keep my involvement and my reputation as someone who wants to give back to the community.”
Kazan keeps that promise through activities like performing free physicals for the Dearborn Raiders youth football team and by working with patients who don’t have health insurance or can’t afford his normal prices.
“For serving the community, my return is to be able to live financially comfortable,” he said.
“My goal is not to be rich, it is to help people and with that comes the rewards.”
The new Genex facility is located at 4953 Schaefer Road in Dearborn just north of Michigan Avenue and the phone number for appointments is 313.228.5271. Kazan’s other office, Physio Matrix, is at 15841 W. Warren in Detroit and the phone number is 313.846.9250.
