Seniors in high school have one last weekend to write essays for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee’s annual Martin Luther King Jr scholarships.
Applications must be submitted to the ADC Michigan office, 13530 Michigan Ave., Suite 329 in Dearborn, by Tuesday, Jan. 19.
A group of volunteers will choose winners after reviewing the essays, which should be between 750 and 1,000 words.
The essay topic: “As an Arab/Chaldean American, how would you describe the impact that hte message/work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has had on your community and on you personally?”
Scholarship amounts vary each year, depending on sponsorship levels. Last year, the group gave away 12 awards worth at least $500. The first-place prize was worth $2,000.
