DEARBORN — On Friday, Sept. 24 a seven-member jury acquitted the four Christian missionaries who were arrested in June at the Arab International Festival in Dearborn and charged with a misdemeanor of disturbing the peace. The missionaries attended trials Sept. 20-24 at Dearborn’s 19th District Court after Judge Mark Somers of Dearborn’s 19th District Court denied the motion to dismiss their case in early September. The missionaries, Negeen Mayel, 18, of California; Nabeel Qureshi, 29, of Virginia; Paul Rezkalla, 18 of New York, and David Wood, 34, also of New York said they attempted to engage festival attendees in Christian dialogue lawfully. Qureshi believes the outcome would be different if Muslims were asking Christians questions.
