Al-Shara

Majd Mohammad Al-Shara, 40, from Lennox Township, will be arraigned on November 22 for charges of child abuse in the death of his 6-year-old daughter Aliaa.

Aliaa died from burns she sustained during a fire pit accident on September 19. Al-Shara allegedly added an accelerant to the fire pit in the common area of their mobile home park when he felt the fire wasn’t large enough for the 4 people sitting around it. According to the police report, the intensified flames caught onto Aliaa’s clothes and she received burns on 90 percent of her body. She died three days later.

Al-Shara also received severe burns on his arms and hands.

Al-Shara received a low bond, but is a citizen of Jordan and came here illegally, although he has lived here for several years. As a result, he remains jailed, on hold by immigration officials. After the criminal charges are handled, he will still face immigration charges, and possibly deportation.

Al-Shara waived his right to a preliminary examination and will proceed straight to arraignment at the Macomb County Circuit Court.
