YPSILANTI — Protesters gathered outside U.S. Rep. John
Dingell’s office in Ypsilanti on Friday, May 13 to object to U.S. Predator
drone attacks and the bombing of residential neighborhoods in Libya. These joint U.S.-NATO actions represent
an escalation beyond the UN authorized no-fly zone. The rush-hour protest along Michigan Avenue was
sponsored by Michigan Peaceworks as an effort to encourage Rep. Dingell to take
a position against a continued U.S. war in Libya. While several representatives of Michigan Peaceworks met
with Rep. Dingell’s staff, others gathered outside to display banners and signs
with messages opposing a U.S. war in Libya and criticizing record U.S. military
spending at a time of domestic budget cuts.
