LANSING — Michigan Peace Team is holding its first ever
“Dinner and a Movie” fundraiser night. Join them June 18th to view the timely and inspiring film
entitled “BUDRUS.” This
will be a first time showing in the Lansing area since its release in
2010. The film follows the story
of a Palestinian community organizer and his teenage daughter through their
non-violent struggle to save the village of Budrus from destruction by the Israeli
“separation barrier.”
This little known movement carries palpable power as the group of local
Fatah and Hamas members, Israeli supporters and a women’s contingent choose
non-violent means to confront very real and dangerous threats.
A Middle Eastern feast is being provided by the New
Aladdin’s Restaurant.
The following Saturday, June 25th, MPT will be showing
another award-winning film,
“Road to Guantanamo,” which tells the true story of three
British Muslims picked up in Pakistan and held for three years in Guantanamo
Bay without charge.
The events run from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A donation of $15
per individual is suggested on a sliding scale basis. The venue is the Michigan
Peace Team office at 808 W. Barnes Ave., Lansing, MI 48910. You may RSVP to: Mary Hanna at MPT: 517.484.3178 or MaryHanna.MPT@gmail.com. Walk-ins will be accepted.
Movies will be shown on a 65″ high-definition screen.
