DEARBORN – A purchase agreement for the Dearborn Towers was
presented to City Council on Tuesday by Mayor Jack O’Reilly. The selling of the towers, which are
large city-owned, senior-living apartment buildings, had already been factored
into the budget for 2011 and 2012, a budget that was approved early this month.
The offer made was for $6 million by a Tampa, Fla.-based
real estate firm.
The decision to sell the 8-story building, which was built
under former mayor Orville Hubbard, was approved by a city vote in 2007.
