DETROIT- Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder will deliver his first major speech on immigration and the regional economy at the New Michigan Media Conference on July 18, 2011 inside Wayne State University’s McGregor Memorial Conference and Community Arts Auditorium. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expected to speak about the topic as well through a video segment to morning panelists.
New Michigan Media gathers ethnic publications including The Arab American News, The Latino Press, The Jewish News, and The Michigan Chronicle and The Michigan Korean Weekly as contributors to the website semichiganstartup.com. The website spotlights ethnic, minority and immigrant entrepreneurs and businesses.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and brings together policy and business leaders to engage in conversations about the impact of immigration in the state and regional economy.
Global Detroit also collaborated with New Michigan Media to present the conference which is being sponsored by the McCormick Foundation and the New Economy Initiative.
