Following Governor Rick Snyder’s recent recognition of the importance of immigrants to Michigan’s economy and vitality, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of Michigan called on the governor and members of the Michigan legislature to formulate and pass legislation allowing undocumented immigrants under the age of 18 to become eligible for private college scholarship funds.
“It is time for our elected officials to take note of Governor Snyder’s outlook and adopt a Michigan Dream Act. The California Dream Act takes a smart approach to fully integrating undocumented immigrants into our society,” said Imad Hamad, ADC Sr. National Advisor and Regional Director. “The Dream Act gives away nothing for free, except a chance to those children who can contribute to our society as legal immigrants while serving as examples to thousands of others who choose to be Americans. It is time to move beyond division and find ways to bridge our differences. The Dream Act will do this.”
