DEARBORN — On Friday, Aug. 16 at 4:30 p.m., Dearborn Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Henry Ford Community College, located at 5101 Evergreen.
The 36-year-old female victim reported that she was on her cell phone, near the outer perimeter of the parking lot, when she was approached by a silver Dodge Caravan. A male, armed with a handgun, exited the passenger side of the vehicle and robbed the victim of her purse and cell phone. The suspect re-entered the vehicle and the Caravan fled the scene.
Dearborn and Detroit officers pursued the vehicle to the 8600 block of Lauder in the City of Detroit. The two suspects exited the Caravan, one of them carrying a handgun, and fled on foot. The suspect with the handgun turned toward officers and began to raise his firearm. Both suspects were subsequently apprehended and are being investigated for similar incidents that occurred earlier in the day in the City of Detroit.
The 25 and 27-year-old Detroit residents were arraigned on Monday at the 19th District Court, before Judge Mark Somers. A preliminary examination was scheduled for August 30, 2013, before Judge Sam Salamey.
Douglas Eugene Sampson, 27-years-old of Detroit, was arraigned on the following charges: Robbery Armed, Weapons-Carrying Concealed, Weapons-Possession by Felon, Fleeing 2nd Degree, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property (motor vehicle) and Felony Firearm. Bond for Sampson was set at one million dollars (no 10%) and a GPS tether is required if bond is posted.
Ralph Brantley, 25-years-old of Detroit, was arraigned on the following charges: Robbery Armed, Weapons-Carrying Concealed, Assault with Intent to Murder (2 counts), Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder (2 counts), Felonious Assault (2 counts), Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing Police Officer (2 counts) and Felony Firearm. Bond for Brantley was set at one million dollars (no 10%) and a GPS tether is required if bond is posted
