TROY— Anna Wanagat gave birth in the parking lot of William Beaumont Hospital on Monday, Aug. 26.
The mother arrived at the hospital around 6 a.m. but could not make it inside the building. Colleen Murphy, a nurse, who was walking by, helped her deliver in the parking lot.
A team of specialized medics then rushed to take care of Wanagat and her newborn, Joshua. The mother and the child are both in good health.
Murphy, said that she had never helped a woman with labor and delivery during her 23-year career, but when she saw Wanagat in the car, her “nurse instinct kicked in.”
