ROYAL OAK — On Sept. 25 at 6 p.m., the the film, “The Citizen.” will premiere at a private, invitation only, event at the Emagine Theater in Royal Oak. The movie was produced, directed and filmed in Michigan.
Beginning Friday, Sept. 27, tickets for “The Citizen” can be purchased at all Emagine Theaters in Michigan and at the Uptown Palladium, Birmingham Theater, where the film will be playing. |
“The Citizen” is the story of an Arab immigrant, who wins the American Green Card Lottery and arrives in New York City on September 10, 2001. He immediately encounters adversities. The film shows an immigrant’s perspective of the American dream, during one of the most challenging times in our country’s history. Inspired by true events, it is a gripping tale of courage, love and perseverance, that compels us to examine our own relationship to our country, while encouraging us, against all odds, to reach for our highest ambitions.
Sam Kadi, the film’s director and producer, said he was honored to have such incredible and diverse talents contribute to the making of “The Citizen.”
Kadi worked with notable people in the film industry on the movie, including acclaimed Egyptian actor Khaled Nabawy (“Fair Game”), beloved British actor Cary Elwes (“The Princess Bride”), talented Canadian actor Rizwan Maji (“Outsourced”), and accomplished American actors William Atherton (“Die Hard”) and Agnes Bruckner (“The Anna Nicole Smith Story”).
“We truly have created a meaningful story,” Kadi said.
