DETROIT — Detroit Public Schools will receive a $500,000 donation that will be used to help enrich music, art and sports programs. The donation comes from the UAW-Ford National Programs Center, Ford Motor Company Fund and the Detroit Public Schools Foundation.
District-wide budget cuts have prevented students from participating in art, music and sports programs in recent years. Parents are especially enthusiastic that the money will be used to support such programs, which many say help keep teens out of trouble and instill inspiration in them.
