DEARBORN — On Aug. 28 at approximately 9:10 a.m. Dearborn Police officers responded to a report of gunshots fired at the Advanced Dental Clinic located at 14639 Ford Road in Dearborn. 

The suspect, a 73 year old male Dearborn resident, was quickly taken into custody by responding officers. It was determined that the suspect entered the billing area of the dental office and an argument ensued over previously disputed dental charges. 

The man drew a pistol and threatened the resident dentist.  

A dental employee grabbed the man and a struggle ensued.  Others in the office helped subdue the suspect.  During the altercation the pistol was fired once but no one sustained injuries. The matter is under investigation and the results will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for determination of criminal charges. Police Chief Ron Haddad expressed his concerns for all of those involved, and also expressed his gratitude that nobody was hurt during this dangerous situation.  “If it were not for the quick actions of the citizens involved, this incident could have been a tragedy,” Haddad said.
