DEARBORN — The Dearborn City Beautiful Commission and Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr. welcomed students serving as junior commissioners during the annual breakfast kick-off of the schools’ beautification and environmental program.
The students from public and private schools across Dearborn were sworn in as commissioners on Oct. 29, promising that they will work on initiatives to beautify their campuses and promote environmentally-friendly practices. Clean-up parades are one aspect of the City Beautiful Commission’s schools program.
Mayor O’Reilly, along with City Beautiful Commissioner Mary Petlichkoff, encouraged the young commissioners to improve the community through efforts boosting recycling, preventing litter and raising awareness of energy-efficiency and other “green practices.”
