DEARBORN—The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) of Michigan recently announced its sixteenth annual scholarship essay contest, Arab and Chaldean Americans Celebrate the Life and Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sixteen years ago, ADC implemented this program with the intention of honoring our nation’s greatest civil rights leader and spreading his message to the Arab and Chaldean American communities in Metro Detroit. The unique goal of this program is to provide Arab American and Chaldean high school students with college funding by educating them about the ongoing struggle for civil rights.
In the program’s short span, it has grown to reach students in over 50 area high schools and has attracted prominent members from both the Arab and Chaldean American and African American communities.
ADC Michigan urges all eligible students to participate in this unique program which has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships over the years.
