DEARBORN — After reports that a 19-year-old Henry Ford College student was missing circulated on social media for hours on Thursday, The Arab American News learned that the man is actually in the Calhoun County Jail.
Sources at Dearborn’s 19th District court told The Arab American News that Hassan Alfatlawi was booked earlier this week for violating his probation from a case that has been pending since 2011. He was sentenced to 30 days and transferred to the jail.
Alfatlawi’s family filed a missing person report at the Dearborn Police Department earlier Thursday, but the police did not confirm his whereabouts to the family.
Detainees are allowed a phone call after being arrested. It is not clear if he reached out to his family.
According to our source, Alfatlawi did not report to his probation officer, had outstanding fines and tested positive for drugs.
