DEARBORN – The Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department and the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Commission held its 63rd annual Sports Awards Ceremony on Sunday, May 17.
Former School Board Trustee Hussein Berry was amongst the newest members of the Recreation & Park Department Hall of Fame, along with Raymond Molimari and the late Robert Saleh.
Berry has had a long history with the city in helping the youth of Dearborn grow and develop in both the athletic arena and the classroom.
Among his contributions include volunteering his time at the Hammoud Center, where he served as a coach. He helped establish the Dearborn Youth Football Association, where he secured $100,000 in donations for the organization’s initial funding. He has since served on the board of directors and was elected as the president of the organization on six occasions.
Molinari has been a long time sponsor of city sports in both youth and adult programs dating back to the 1960s.
Saleh was an active member in sports in the city’s south end community since the mid-70s. He went on to have a stellar career in the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department’s Class A Basketball League.
With the induction of the three men, the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department’s Special Award Hall of Frame grew to 49 people in total.
