DEARBORN – The Islamic Center of America Board of Trustees elected businessman Issa Safieddine as chairman on Sunday. Safieddine succeeds community activist Ron Amen.
Safieddine, who has served previously as a chairman in the late 1990’s, will lead the transition of the center after the resignation of spiritual leader Sayed Hassan Qazwini and several board members.
Drs. Mohamad Majed and Walid Harb will serve as Safieddine’s vice chairs.
Board member Salah Hazimi told The Arab American News that he is confident Safieddine will do a “great job.”
“He has proven his leadership when he was chairman,” he said.
ICA held its Spring fundraiser last weekend and raised close to $200,000.
