HAMTRAMCK — Saad Almasmari, one of the two Yemeni American candidates in the Hamtramck City Council primary election race, will be moving on to compete in the November general election.
Almasmari and fellow Yemeni American Mohamed Alsomiri were among nine candidates who competed in the Aug. 4 primary to be the six who would advance to the Nov. 3 general election. Those six will vie for three open seats.
Both Almasmari and Alsomiri are immigrants and businessmen. Almasmari, 28, who came in fifth place in Tuesday’s primary, made an unsuccessful bid for a seat on the Hamtramck Board of Education last year.
The number of votes the nine primary candidates received are as follows:]
