Starting Oct 18, the Department of Homeland Security will begin collecting social media data from naturalized citizens and permanent residents.
Last week, there were additions to the Federal Register which require the collection of “social media handles, aliases, associated identifiable information, and search results.”
BuzzFeed was the first to report on this, and noted that the expansions to what data will be collected on green card holders and naturalized citizens means that all persons who interact with these two groups will also have data collected to some degree.
