The total registered voters in the city is 60,116 and 15,169 people cast their ballots which makes for a total average turnout of 25.23%. The highest Arab American-majority precinct’s turnout was at McDonald at just over 25%. The lowest turnout was at Salina School, Precinct 21 in the south end, where it was at 10.95%. Most of the precincts that have heavily populated Arab precincts on the east side were in the 20% range.

“I had the privilege of being able to sit through those AAPAC meetings and see all the hard work they go through when they make their official endorsements. I can honestly say I agree with their entire list. They don’t just endorse anybody. I personally have been always opened to change and making a difference, especially in a heavy populated Arab community. I think it will definitely show people what we can do if we get together… It would definitely make a statement,” Bazzi stated.
