BEIRUT – The suicide bombers, who carried out the terrorist attack against the Iranian embassy in south Beirut, killing 25 people, entered Lebanon with fake passports, the investigation revealed.
Investigators identified one of the suicide bombers who ravaged the Bir Hasan neighborhood earlier this week as a Palestinian national, as they began piecing together the hours leading up to the crime.
The bombers stayed at a luxury Beirut hotel, Military Prosecutor Saqr Saqr said Thursday.
Saqr told The Daily Star the killers stayed at the Sheraton Four Points in the Beirut area near UNESCO. He said security camera videos submitted by the hotel were also being examined.
Security sources told The Daily Star that investigators were still trying to identify the second bomber, who was also an Arab.
Both bombers had fake Lebanese identification cards.
Al-Akhbar reported that the suicide bombers might have come to Lebanon from Jordan.
Lebanese security forces released footage of the bombers from surveillance cameras around the embassy. g
