Back in 1980, an organization called the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine — Special Operations, detonated a bomb near a Paris synagogue, killing four people and injuring 20 others. Just recently, German authorities uncovered a membership list for that organization, which appears to be distinct from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and is reported to be no longer in existence. The list names the person in charge of the group, Hassan Diab. There is a Hassan Diab who is a dual Lebanese-Canadian citizen who is a university instructor in Ottawa. While French authorities have expressed interest in him, he denies ever having been involved with that organization or any other extremist group and denies having had anything to do with the bombing. He argues that his is a common Arabic name and that he is being confused with some other Hassan Diab. A quick look at Google confirms that there are many Hassan Diabs.
